Storm Water Plans
There are many requirements that need to be met in order to achieve full compliance. It is required that a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) be prepared and implemented before site development begins. The SWPPP must include the following:
Describe, in detail, the type of pollutants that exist at the site and how they will be controlled during the construction process using BMPs (Best Management Practices).
Site map
Construction schedule
Endangered species and historic preservation provisions
Copy of state regulations
Signature of company official responsible for project
In addition to these requirements, the SWPPP must be kept on site and in some cases, posted at the construction entrance. It is important that the SWPPP be properly maintained and updated as the project progresses. A SWPPP is unique to the project that it was prepared for and it is crucial that the SWPPP be followed with precision in order for the site to remain in full compliance.
Best Management Practices (BMPs)
There are hundred’s of Best Management Practices (BMPs) that cover several different areas of site development. These BMPs cover illicit discharge & elimination, site planning and management, erosion control, runoff control, sediment control, good housekeeping, materials management, and post construction management. The SWPPP includes a detailed description of the BMPs to be used during site development. Each BMP is designed for a specific purpose. Some BMPs are permanent structures, while others are only meant for temporary relief. Paradigm Engineering not only helps determine which BMPs to use but also ensures that the BMPs being used are efficient and effective through continuous site inspections.
Recent Milestones
CPESC, Inc. has contracted with Paradigm Engineering to design a nationwide certification program. This new nationwide inspector certification program designed for CPESC, Inc. sets the industry standard for meeting the national and international requirements for storm water inspections. The new certification is a Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Storm Water Inspector Program (CESSWI). CESSWI Exam Review Classes began in early November, 2007.
